Rosemarie Soares Earns Prestigious CLU Designation

Rosemarie Soares, an Account Executive and Supervisor for the Financial Services & Benefits Department at the Sylvia Group of Insurance Agencies, has recently attained her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Designation. Requiring in-depth learning and successful passing of multiple exams, this is a professional designation for individuals who wish to specialize in life insurance and estate planning. The Chartered Life Underwriter designation is respected as risk management’s highest standard of knowledge and trust. A CLU is an educated, experienced, and qualified professional committed to the financial well-being of their clients. This designation displays the individual’s in-depth knowledge of the insurance needs of individuals, business owners and professional clients.

Rose is a fully licensed insurance broker who has also earned the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designations. She served six years in the United States Marine Corps, left as a Sergeant and Administrative Chief and was honored with receiving various commendations and medals. Rose is a Notary Public and volunteers her time as a member of the United Way’s Citizens Review Team and a classroom volunteer with Junior Achievement. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Transition House in New Bedford as well as Leadership Southcoast.

Thanksgiving Holiday

In observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday, Sylvia Insurance will be closed as of 3:30pm on Wednesday, November 21st through Friday, November 23rd.

We will resume normal operating hours on Monday, November 26th.

Jill White and Nathan Araujo
have joined the Agency as Commercial Lines Account Executives. Licensed as Massachusetts Property and Casualty Insurance Producers, Jill and Nathan work with businesses to design insurance programs that fit their strategic plans and goals. The programs are designed to reduce clients’ total cost of risk and make them more attractive to the insurance marketplace.

Prior to joining the team, Jill White worked for Webster Bank where she was a Vice President and Branch Manager. While there she became Certified in Moody’s Analytics. She is a Notary Public and has over 15 years experience in the financial services industry. Very active in the local community, Jill has recently joined the Board of Directors of Downtown New Bedford, Inc. and is actively involved in the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce and Relay for Life of New Bedford. She is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University.

Before joining the Agency, Nathan Araujo worked for Webster Bank where he was an Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager and Small Business Specialist. While there he became Certified in Moody’s Analytics. He was honored as a Top Performer at Fleet Bank/Bank of America and is very active in his community. Nathan serves as the President of the Samaritans of Fall River/New Bedford, an Executive Committee Member of Southcoast Hospital’s Charlton Division and Coordinator for the Santo Christo Youth Ministry among others. He is a graduate of American Intercontinental University holding a BA and MBA in Management.

In addition, the Sylvia Group is pleased to welcome Ellen Woods to the Sylvia Team. Ellen has over 25 years in the insurance/financial industry. For the last 18 years, she has focused on working with people who are approaching retirement or who are already retired, helping them to protect their assets while planning for long term care needs. She is a Department of Veterans Affairs Accredited Claims Agent and holds the Long Term Care Planning (LTCP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations. Ellen serves as an advisor to the Big Brothers of Rhode Island on the topic of charitable giving, is the Founder and President of Camp Ellie Mae and has served as a past President and active board member for the Bristol County Estate Planning Council.
